May 2016 – Slow Rides for the Month

Backcountry trail logo Sunday, May 1st     Orange Beach BackCountry Trails,  4:00 

This ride in Orange Beach along the BackCountry Trails. The group will start from the trailhead at the Sportsplex in Orange Beach. This is located just off Canal Road, just east of the Toll Bridge. Continue through the parking lot, past the big soccer fields. You’ll see an arched entryway to the trails. marrietta johnson statue  Sunday, May 8th     Mothers Day Ride from F’hope Bluff,  4:00 

Beginning at the Marietta Johnson statue on the Fairhope Bluff, we will ride south along the Eastern Shore Trail toward Point Clear’s Grand Hotel. This is an 8-10 mile route, depending on side-trips.

 

Sunday, May 15th     Mullet Point Park to Grand Hotel,  4:00 

Begins at Mullet Point Park on Baldwin County Road #1, which is 5 miles south of the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL. We ride along the paved Eastern Shore Trail north to the Grand Hotel, take a rest break, then return to Mullet Point Park. 10 miles roundtrip. Very flat. Appropriate for Beginners and Families.

Sunday, May 22nd    Mullet Point to Pelican Point,    4:00     

Begins at Mullet Point Park on Baldwin County Road #1, which is 5 miles south of the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL. We ride on County Road #1, southeast to Pelican Point at Weeks Bay.  We’ll take a rest break, then return to Mullet Point Park. 10 miles roundtrip. Very flat.  Takes about an hour and a half to complete at our slow, social pace.

fhope memorial fountain on bluff  Sunday, May 29th    Memorial Weekend Ride, begins at Veterans Memorial Fountain on the F’hope Buff,  PICNIC to follow    4:00  

Meet near the sidewalk along Magnolia Street and in front of the Veterans Memorial Fountain in the Buff Park (across from Knoll Park).   We will be riding on the sidewalks and side streets of Fairhope.    Some hills.  Picnic to follow on the bluff, so bring a dish to share, your own beverage, and a lawn chair.  Molly will provide a table, paper plates, utensils, and napkins.
