April 2014 – Planned Bicycle Rides

Sunday, April 6th

3:00 start:  Mullet Point to Grand Hotel –   Begins at Mullet Point Park on Baldwin County Road #1, which is 5 miles south of the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL. We ride along the paved Eastern Shore Trail north to the Grand Hotel, take a rest break, then return to Mullet Point Park. 10 miles roundtrip. Very flat. Appropriate for beginners and families. Takes about an hour and a half to complete at our slow, social pace.

Sat-Mon, April 12-14

The Chief    CANCELLED.  See newer post for details on Sunday Ride in Daphne, AL.

This weekend was designated as our Chief Ladiga Ride in North Alabama and Georgia.   The route is a multi-use Rail-Trail that begins just north of Anniston, AL, and runs into Smyrna, GA.

Saturday, April 19th

bike valet logo from ipadEARTH DAY MOBILE BAY:  The FREE Bicycle Valet service will again be offered at this event held at the Fairhope Pier.  Volunteers are needed to help staff the service.  Contact Molly (email listed above), if you can give an hour or two.

After the day’s activities are complete, we’ll start our Slow Bicycle Ride at 5:15 p.m. from the top of the bluff, beside the Marietta Johnson statue – riding south along the Eastern Shore Trail to the Grand Hotel then back.  This is an 8-10 mile route, depending on side trips.

Sunday, April 27th

Mullet Point to Pelican Point, 3:00 p.m. start –  Begins at Mullet Point Park on Baldwin County Road #1, which is 5 miles south of the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL. We ride on County Road #1, southeast to Pelican Point at Weeks Bay.  We’ll take a rest break, then return to Mullet Point Park. 10 miles roundtrip. Very flat.  Takes about an hour and a half to complete at our slow, social pace.
