February Rides – 2014

Feb

Sunday, Feb 2nd Groundhog Day Ride-  1:30 p.m. (so you can get home in time to prep for your Super Bowl parties).  Begins at the Fairhope Pier.  Ride will include repeated, but fun loops (ever see the movie?)

EST  Saturday, Feb 8th Trail Maintenance Day:  9:00 a.m.:  Join the Baldwin County Trailblazers in some annual maintenance of the Eastern Shore Trail.  We will be fertilizing 82 recently pruned crepe myrtles along the trail and bedding down with 40 bales of pine straw. Bring gloves, and perhaps a rake.  Meet near the Bailey’s Creek bridge, south of Hwy 32 (and the Grand Hotel) where the crepe myrtles plantings begin.  There is no parking, except along the road shoulder (don’t park on the trail!).  You might park and walk from the corner lot at Hwy 32.  Bike ride afterwards along the south part of the trail.

Sunday, Feb 9th – McSherry’s Out-and-Back Ride, 3:00:  Begins and ends near McSherry’s Pub in downtown Fairhope (north Bancroft St.).  Riding along sidewalks and side streets in downtown.  Stay for refreshments and fellowship afterwards at the pub.

pcola beach  Saturday, Feb 15thFort Pickens/Pensacola Beach Ride, 11:00:  Begins from the parking area at Fort Pickens (park info HERE).  There is an $8 per car entrance fee.  Bike ride will head east toward the Margaritaville Hotel for lunch, then return for a tour of the Fort.  Roundtrip, this ride will total about 20 miles.  Carpool/caravan meet-up leaves at 9:15 a.m. from Lowe’s parking lot in Malbis or we’ll just see ya’ there!

No organized ride for Sunday, Feb 16th.

Sunday, Feb 23rdMullet Point to Pelican Point, 3:00:  Begins at Mullet Point Park (5 miles south of the Grand Hotel) riding along County Road #1 to Pelican Point, at the mouth of Weeks Bay.  Very flat, 10 miles roundtrip.
