Five Rides Planned for September

Join us for some lovely September Rides.

All on Sundays, start times vary.

Sept 1st Mullet Point to Grand Hotel:  

This meet-up ride begins at 4:00 p.m. from the Mullet Point Park. This route rides north along the Eastern Shore Trail to the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, loops by the Confederate Rest Cemetery, then back to Mullet Point Park, which is 5 miles south of Grand Hotel, just of scenic Hwy 98, on County Road 1.   This ride is 11 miles roundtrip. Very flat and suitable for riders of all abilities.

Sept 8th Pelican Point to Mullet Point:

This meet-up ride begins at 4:00 p.m. from the Pelican Point Park.  This route rides toward Mullet Point Park along County Road 1, then back.   NOTE that we are riding in REVERSE of our normal route, so that any kayakers who’d like to paddle before the ride,  can join in on a meetup of the Slow Paddlers. Time for Paddle TBD.

Sept 15th Daphne Bay Front Park (Down the Road behind Publix):

This meet-up ride begins at 4:00 p.m. from Bay Front Park in Daphne.  There is a parking area with restrooms right beside the bay and pier.  This route will include some off-road treking through the Village Pointe Preserve, passing beside the Jackson Oak, then out onto the Eastern Shore Trail.  Some hills.

Sept 22nd Orange Beach Back Country Trails:

Start Time 4:00 p.m.  This ride is in Orange Beach along the BackCountry Trails. The group will start from the trailhead at the Sportsplex in Orange Beach. This is located just off Canal Road, just east of the Toll Bridge. Continue through the parking lot, past the big soccer fields. You’ll see an arched entryway to the trails. Sept 29th Ocean Springs, Mississippi Ride:  

Start Time 10:00 a.m.  Meet at the L& N Train Depot (Visitors Center)

This route is a 15.5 mile bike loop featuring the downtown area, old Ocean Springs historic district (residential area, no path but very little traffic), front beach and east beach (wide paved trail along beach), Gulf Islands National Seashore Davis Bayou, salt marsh area, picnic tables, pavilion, RESTROOMS (This is the half way point), then back again. Ride is a bit hilly (similar to Daphne) and no formal path but not a lot of traffic.  Click Here for PRINTABLE DETAILS SHEET.

Getting There: 1 ½ hr. Fairhope to Ocean Springs (I 10 West to Exit 50, 609 South all the way down to Ocean Springs. Cross over Bienville Blvd (rt. 90), Cross over railroad tracks and take an immediate left onto Park Rd. and another immediate left into the parking lot of Train Depot (Visitors Center)
