Sunday the 6th was too wet to ride, but here are some January rides to get our 2013 calendar rollin’:
Sunday, January 13th: Mullet Point to Point Clear
Meet-up at the Mullet Point Park, 5 miles south of the Grand Hotel. Ride begins at 2:00. We’ll ride north along the very flat Eastern Shore Trail.
Saturday, January 19th: TWEED RIDE, sponsored by Mobilians on Bikes. This is their 3rd annual costumed ride through downtown Mobile. Description from their FB event page: “This event shall be dedicated to leisure, sophistication, friendship and merriment, so get ready for a most pleasurable bicycle ride through some of the historic and lovely parts of our fair city, a wonderful moving pictures show, and a pint of beer in a warm and cozy pub afterwards. Dress: Tweed, woolens, knickers, argyle, fancy moustaches, lovely chapeaux and any clothing that harks of a bygone era… 12:45pm from Cream and Sugar Cafe in Mobile… Midway: 2pm moving pictures show at the Crescent Theatre… Finale: 5pm pints and merriment at Callaghan’s Irish Social Club. Awards for best dressed gentleman and lady, most marvelous moustache, and the loveliest chapeau.”
Sunday, January 20th: Meet-up at the Daphne Public Library, 2:00 p.m. We’ll ride through olde town and down near the bay. Some hills.
There are some tentative plans for a few out-of-town trips in the next couple of months including returns to the Tammany Trace in Louisiana and the 30-A route in South Walton Beach, Florida. Let us know when and where you’d like to ride in 2013!
