Alligators and Off-Roading

Spotting gators from the bike trail

Great ride on Sunday along the northern portion of the Eastern Shore Trail.  We enjoyed spotting alligators of all sizes from the trail near Alligator Alley and at Bayfront Park.  On the return ride, which proved quite hilly, Bruce treated everyone to an ice cream bar at Publix.  We even did a little “off-roading” between Scenic 98 and the bay before climbing the last hill back to the library.  This was a challenging but varied and scenic route.

Join us next Sunday for our original Point-to-Point route as we celebrate our first year of Slow Bicycling.  Ride begins at 4:00 p.m. from Mullet Point Park (5 miles south of the Grand Hotel).  This is our very flat, 10 mile route that is suitable for beginners or experienced “slow riders”.  Bring your own drinks and a snack to share, as we’ll celebrate our Aniversary with a post-ride picnic at Mullet Point Park.

For other August Rides, read our earlier post HERE.  Details on the Dauphin Island trip are coming soon!   Stay tuned.
