August Rides hit the Calendar

Check out all of the slow rides planned for August.  Join us when you can!    See Calendar View HERE.

August 5th – 4:00 p.m.  Fairhope Pier to Grand Hotel Route:  Meeting near the south end of the Fairhope Pier Rose Garden, we will ride south along the Eastern Shore Trail toward Point Clear’s Grand Hotel.  This is an 8-10 mile route, depending on side-trips.  Refreshment stop at Battles Wharf Market on the return leg.

August 12th – 4:00 p.m. Alligator Trail Ride:  This will be a new route for our group.  We’ll meet in the north end parking lot of the Daphne Public Library and head north along the Eastern Shore Trail as it crosses Hwy 98 at the redlight, known to locals as “malfunction junction” – then climb up and down the sidewalk trail as it passes beside the fire station and Lake Forest entrance.  The trail then winds under Hwy 98 and I-10 as it passes the “Alligator Trail.”  This promises to be a hilly route, but we’ll take it nice and slow, so don’t miss the fun!  On our return, we’ll stop for a refreshment break at the Daphne Publix and a quick stop at the scenic Bayfront Park on Mobile Bay.

August 19th – 4:00 p.m.  Anniversary Ride & Picnic:  This, the 3rd weekend in August, is the one year anniversary of our Slow Bicycle group.  We’ll celebrate with our original Point-to-Point route (Mullet Point Park to Point Clear’s Grand Hotel – along the Eastern Shore Trail) followed by a picnic social at the Mullet Point park.  BYOB and bring some snacks to share with the groups.  Molly will provide paper plates and napkins.  Come celebrate a year of fun, slow cycling!

August 25thSATURDAY Ride on Dauphin Island.  We will meet at the Ft. Morgan Ferry and ride across to Dauphin Island on bikes.  We will be exploring the paved trails on Dauphin Island and making a lunch stop along the way.  Times and more details to follow soon.  Don’t miss this one!

August 26th – 4:00 p.m. Mullet Point to Pelican Point:  Beginning at the Mullet Point Park, we’ll ride south then west along County Road 1 to the Pelican Point landing.  This route is on the nice, flat road that runs beside the bayfront homes of this south Baldwin community.  Approx. 11 miles total.  Bring your own refreshments for a post-ride picnic at Mullet Point park.
